How to Use Trees as a Privacy Measure

Garden privacy is important. Even if you trust your neighborhood and have absolutely no worries about anybody peeping on what you are doing, there is still a lot of reasons to make an enclosed cubby or block lines of sight from other gardens – it is your personal space, after all.

Trees are a very effective method of blocking people from being able to see into your garden or even the windows of your home. But how do you use them effectively to make sure that they are actually helping, and what kind of trees are best?

Using Trees for Privacy

While it can take a while for trees to grow (unless you have them planted when they are already partially grown), a tree that has developed leaves will usually be able to block a fairly large amount of space. Even half-grown trees are able to work as a natural fence, blocking access and sightlines.

With multiple local warehouses across the region, you never have to wait long for a rental dumpster in Baden, Pennsylvania.

There are a lot of ways to use trees like this, depending on the kind of garden you have and what sort of style you are aiming for. You might want to line an existing fence with trees or plant them in a specific corner so that only a certain section of your garden is isolated from outside eyes.

Natural Fences

The idea of a ‘natural fence’ means that you are using trees to block off people’s vision and physical access to your garden. If they are durable enough, then they are essentially like having a hedge, just with less maintenance required on a yearly basis.

A natural fence also means that you can have nice boundaries without necessarily needing to put a real fence down. This might be better in rural areas where your property opens up to empty land – space that you might want to access without needing a wire fence behind it.

Privacy Screens

Sometimes you will want to cut off a certain area, such as a party spot that you have created to enjoy in the summer. Isolating a specific spot from your neighbors can be a nice way to make people feel comfortable if your yard connects to many others and can also help cut down on noise pollution.

Keeping parts of your property border free of trees makes it feel much more open but still lets you block lines of sight in areas that you want to keep private. This could include a shed and workshop, a sitting area, a barbeque spot, or your outdoor working spot.

Window Blinds

In certain situations, you can even use trees as extra blinds for windows. If you need natural sunlight in a room but are also concerned about privacy – especially with a first-floor room – then a tree can be a nice alternative.

For example, you might put a tree at the front of your house to block a bedroom window without having to keep the blind closed all the time. This can make a huge difference if you are concerned about being seen while changing or just want to avoid people peeping on what you are doing.

Ideal Trees

Some trees are better at being a privacy screen than others, and it is a good idea to choose one that you think will work. Remember that getting a fully-grown tree can require some landscaping, so consider renting one of our dumpsters to make the installation and planting work much easier.

Hybrid Willow

The Hybrid Willow can grow up to 10 feet per year and is very disease-resistant. This particular tree was bred to grow quickly, becoming thick enough to help block noise and keep neighbors away. Not only that, but they work as a windbreak and can even dry out muddy soil around them.

Leyland Cypress

Aside from being very pretty to look at, the Leyland Cypress is fast-growing and can offer wide coverage in a backyard. Able to reach 50 feet after about fifteen years of growth, they are a huge screen that can cover even the largest homes and are able to grow very well in a lot of conditions.

Eastern Redcedar

The Eastern Redcedar is a broad all-year-round tree that can work really well as part of a natural fence. Thanks to the very earthy colors, it can work well in rural areas and urban gardens alike, and its hardiness makes it an ideal choice in rougher weather.

Goldspire Ginko

Goldspire Ginko is short and wide but also durable, allowing it to act like a shorter fence that can easily fit both traditional gardens and their Zen counterparts. The narrow, almost pyramid-like shape gives them a unique look that no other tree can quite come close to.

Green Giant Thuja

Green Giant Thuja is one of the most popular privacy trees around. Tall and wide, they can be grown in dense rows almost like a hedge, growing so close together that there is no space for people to peek through properly. They are also surprisingly durable and great for compact gardens.

Emerald Green Thuja

Like Green Giant Thuja, Emerald Green Thuja is a great option if you have limited space. At roughly half the height, they are an even more compact option that can help you get a hedge-like fence without the extended height. They also are used for landscaping projects very often.

Sky Pencil Holly

The Sky Pencil Holly tree is very slim, offering 10 feet of height but only 2 feet of width. This makes it a great privacy option for people with almost no space and can help break up empty borders if you do not want complete isolation all around you.

How Syracuse Habitat for Humanity Transformed an Abandoned Property (And How You Can Too)

A few years ago, Syracuse Habitat for Humanity turned an empty, tax-delinquent house from 2014 into a brand new home. The work itself was done entirely by volunteers, and the abandoned property quickly became something that could be re-used once more.

But how was this achieved so well by volunteers, and how can you do the same thing to your own home if it is falling into disrepair? Knowing where to start is the hardest part, but once you get going, it can create some excellent results.

Cleaning Up

Before any work can be done, the property needs to be cleaned up first. If you are doing this to your own home, then you can use the same method that the volunteers did – spending an afternoon cleaning up household debris, from old broken furniture to random pieces of waste.

Eagle Dumpster Rental is a locally owned and operated dumpster rental company proudly serving customers in Bakerstown, Pennsylvania and the 15007 ZIP code.

By the end of a single day, the team had gathered enough debris and trash to fill a dumpster with a 25-cubic-yard capacity. The clean-up only lasted a day or two, but it did not take long to empty out the property and make it suitable for more in-depth work.

If you need to clear out your home before making major changes, then do not hesitate to rent a dumpster. Some of our versatile dumpster rentals are ideal for clearing an old house, even if you need to dispose of large pieces of old furniture that you do not want to use.

Improving the House

Turning the house into something liveable was an important step in the volunteer renovation, and it will be equally as important for you, too. If your home has any major flaws in terms of water leaks, damaged pipes, or even something as small as dents in the walls, fixing them is important.

Make sure to look through the house before you make any other major changes, taking stock of anything that might need to be repaired or replaced to get the best possible outcome. Even a small sign of damage can indicate something major, and it is worth looking at just in case.

This is also a good way to look around and find anything that you might have missed or anything that you would personally want to improve. Taking some time to think things over can matter a lot if you are trying to perfect your home and get an idea of how much work you want to do.

Arranging Work

You always want to start arranging the work before you actually begin any practical changes. The more you can schedule and prepare ahead of time, the easier it becomes to get everything correct and avoid accidentally getting in the way of your own improvements or renovations.

For example, plan out the most important parts of your renovations and make sure that you know which should come first. Certain projects are not going to be possible while you are doing others, like moving in new furniture when you are replacing the flooring, so proper scheduling can help.

It might also be a good idea to look into your rentals and hires. For example, if you want to rent one of our excellent dumpster rental options for easy waste disposal, try to decide when it should arrive and when it should ideally be picked up. This makes it easier to keep track of each ‘stage’ of work.

Renovations

Any major renovations to your home should be done carefully but with all the right professional tools and help. If you can’t manage something on your own, then do not hesitate to look for contractors that could help make things simpler. Good renovation quality is important.

More in-depth renovations should be done first, especially if they would prevent other parts of your home from being renovated if they were done later on. In an older home with more obvious signs of damage, you should also account for unexpected repair requirements or issues.

If you have a lot to throw away or dispose of, then consider using one of our dumpster options. The smaller designs are great for single-room renovations, and our larger models can hold the debris from major demolition or construction work, making it much easier to clean up.

Future Work

After the major renovations, it is important to check over the house before you move all the furniture back in and assume that everything is fine. In a lot of cases, a house might need extra work after all of the main renovations, such as getting new appliances or lights.

It can be difficult to guess what kind of work you will need to do ahead of time, but once you have a rough idea of what you need, it is not hard to start planning out future work. These could be major alterations that you will want to do, such as building a porch or adding an exterior fence.

Always plan ahead, but do not plan so far ahead that you forget the current progress of your home’s reworked design or upgraded interior. Thinking ahead helps, but you still need to be conscious of the immediate issues you are facing and what kind of work can help resolve those problems.

If you are starting from the beginning and clearing out the old house completely, then get in touch and see if any of our dumpster rentals are right for your needs. The easier it is to dispose of scrap and debris, the faster you will be able to focus on the core of your renovations later.

How to Dispose of Old Paint Properly

Old paint is always a hassle. If it is still usable, then you can often find a DIY project that it might suit, but a lot of older paint ends up gathering dust and becoming impossible to use in any productive way. It might even be a type of paint that is no longer sold or from a company that no longer exists.

For transparent, low, and affordable rates in Beallsville, Pennsylvania and the 15313 ZIP code, reach out to us by email or phone.

So if you can’t use it, how do you get rid of it? Throwing away paint might sound easy, but there are actually a lot of specifics behind how you can do it – and how you can’t.

Throwing Paint Away

It might be tempting to simply throw your paints away like anything else, but this can actually be a very risky move. Not all paints can be thrown away, and even when they can, you need to follow certain steps to make sure that it is actually safe to throw that specific can away.

On top of that, there can be limits on how your local municipalities will actually pick up the paint, so you will have to check the relevant regulations and restrictions first. Even if you follow all of the standard steps, you may live in an area where they will not pick up paint.

Even if you meet all of those other requirements, there are better ways of getting rid of the paint. Throwing it away should be a last-ditch option since it is both wasteful and very difficult for waste workers to deal with.

Oil-Based Paint

Oil-based paints contain chemicals that can damage things like soil and water, leading to some major environmental damage if you simply toss it away. Even throwing it in the trash is a bad idea, to the extent that many states make it a crime to do so.

Throwing away your oil-based paints is technically possible, but not through the usual measures. You have to specifically take your paints to proper hazardous waste facilities or drop-off events, which are sometimes only open once or twice a year at most.

Latex Paints

Latex paints are not hazardous, so you can throw them away under most circumstances as long as you follow the correct steps. Most of these are two dry the paint out and make sure that it is safe to throw away without causing problems later on.

First, you need to remove the lid and toss it away separately, letting the paint completely dry out (either on its own or mixed with something to dry it). Then, if you are leaving it out for roadside pickup, you pour all of the paint into a cardboard box and wait for it to dry, then throw it away.

This method sounds strange, but a lot of locations will allow this. However, it is much more effective to simply donate your paint instead.

Donating Paint

Instead of throwing away your paints, you can donate them to people who need them more than you did. There are multiple great ways and places to donate paint that you are not going to use, and most of them will accept any paint as long as it is still usable.

Shelters

Any kind of shelter, such as homeless shelters or domestic violence shelters, can benefit from having more resources. Not only can the paint help stave off rust and mold, but the paint itself is actually quite expensive – and such organizations will not have much money spare to buy it when it is needed.

This is especially important if a new shelter is opening up since they might be using a building that has not been maintained well. Paints that can cover cracked walls or damaged doors can improve the overall atmosphere of the shelter and stop it from looking as dreary.

Hobby and Drama Clubs

Any club that relies on paint, from an actual painting club to DIY groups or drama teams, might like an extra paint option. They are often run with the budget of the members, or sometimes even just the club leader, and that means that paints are in short supply.

If this is a community club that forms a major part of some social circles and events in your area, then the paint might be even more useful since it can be used as part of seasonal displays or events that only get limited funding.

Non-Profits

There are multiple non-profits that accept paint and redistribute it to any struggling organizations. This can include schools, hospitals, or even individual homes that urgently need a specific kind of paint for a project, especially if it is for restoring the building or repainting a mural.

Should I Donate Paint?

Always check with an organization before bringing them paint, just in case the paint you are offering is not one that they can actually use. Giving them the wrong paint can create more of a problem than it solves and leaves them with no real way to use it.

Donating paint is always better than throwing it away since other people get to make use of it. Being wasteful with materials and substances like this is not just annoying to the people who need them but also means that you are creating more of a burden on the environment.

The exception is any paint that is completely unusable, either because it is tainted or just because it has dried and hardened completely. In this case, consider renting one of our dumpster options to help move large amounts of paint without needing to worry about spills or stains on your vehicle.

What is the National Award for Exemplary Workplace Practices?

While the waste industry is often overlooked by many people, it still has a huge list of different awards that companies can win for their efforts. One of the most notable is the When Work Works Award, which has been handed out to dumpster companies multiple times.

Eagle Dumpster Rental delivers to the entire city of Beaver Falls in Beaver County, including all jobsites, addresses, schools, small businesses, construction sites, and other locations in and around Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.

But what is this award, and why is it so important to dumpster rental or waste management companies like us? Even if you do not have much interest in the industry, it is a good idea to understand what these awards mean – and why they are so valued.

Can Dumpster Companies Win Awards?

The waste management industry contains a lot of different companies, all of which fall into their own niches or purposes. Some only offer one specific thing, and others aim for a varied spread of different products or services.

For rental companies like us, there are many reasons that awards could be won – good customer service, excellent product line-ups, high standards of quality, or even just becoming a leader of the industry. We aim to win as many as we can without compromising our customers’ needs.

Rental companies are fully capable of winning awards, and it has happened many times before. Some of these awards are exclusive to only a few companies per year, and others are more like standards that a company must meet before they can achieve it.

What is the When Work Works Award?

Created and handed out by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Families and Work Institute (FWI), the When Work Works Award recognizes companies across the UK that have managed to create successful, productive, and healthy workplaces.

In the case of our industry, this means things like keeping workplaces flexible and allowing employees to work without fear of stressing themselves too much or hurting their own well-being. There are a lot of specific details that need to be considered before an award is given out.

Culture of Trust

The workplace needs to be a place that employees can trust and somewhere that employees are able to trust one another. Waste disposal and management can be unexpectedly dangerous, so trust is important to all of the work that we do.

We aim to make our workplace as accessible and friendly to employees as possible, making sure that they can trust one another and work as a team when needed. We also want our customers to trust us when looking at our range of dumpster rental options.

Learning

The workplace needs to allow new employees to learn properly and should teach them actual skills that they can rely on as they get more experienced. Ideally, this should also involve taking on apprentices and people who are specifically there to learn.

There are multiple roles involved in the dumpster rental field, and we try to make sure that new employees can get up to speed on their responsibilities and any related knowledge as fast as possible. Poor learning would only reflect badly on our customers and the rest of our staff.

Work/Life Balance

We try to keep a solid work/life balance in our rental company, both because of the award and because a good balance is important for employee happiness. To earn the award, a workplace needs to strike this balance well and not dip too far into overworking employees regularly.

A good work/life balance is important, and we aim to maintain one for all of our employees when possible. However, we also do not compromise the customer’s ability to get in touch at unusual hours or contact us about important issues that they might need clarification on.

Autonomy

The award is also only handed out to the companies that give their employees the ability to act on their own, without needing to follow strict instructions to the letter at all times. This includes using their own initiative to solve problems or issues.

Our staff are able to use their own judgment when delivering or picking up a dumpster rental, such as deciding whether the dumpster has been left in a place that allows for easy pick-up or if the customer will need to come out and move vehicles that are blocking the way.

Satisfaction

Things like employee earnings and benefits factor into this award as well, alongside total employee satisfaction. This also covers health and well-being, as well as opportunities for advancement or the ability to improve employees earnings by moving to a higher-paid role.

Support

Another core factor is whether or not supervisors are able to offer proper support for good work. This can mean both in the sense of pay or just general praise and appreciation for employees that go above and beyond.

We aim for as much satisfaction as possible in both our workforce and our customer base, no matter what kind of rental is involved.

Why Does This Award Matter?

While this award is only something that exists within the industry, we work hard to try and give our customers the best possible rental options for their needs. We also take care of our employees and do our best to achieve top-quality satisfaction and service at both ends of our rentals.

The When Work Matters award represents a high standard of quality and is a badge of honor for any company that can earn it. It confirms that employers are moving towards improving their workplaces and that they are using innovative strategies to get the best results possible.

How to Give Your Home Some Curb Appeal

The outside of your home is just as important as the inside. Whether you are improving your home for yourself or selling it in the near future, curb appeal matters, and an attractive exterior can have a massive impact on how other people perceive your home as they walk by.

But how can you boost curb appeal, and what does it even entail? Here are some ideas to get you started on a better, nicer outdoor space.

Plants and Trees

Natural plants are often overlooked, but they can have a huge impact on the curb appeal of your home. Both potted plants and garden plants can help a lot, and you will have a lot of control over the kinds of colors or styles that you go for.

Roll-away bin rentals, C&D dumpsters, junk hauling services, and other waste management services are all available in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania from your local experts at Eagle Dumpster Rental.

Once you have a nice selection of plants set up, it can add a splash of color to an otherwise grey and green garden. Potted plants make great corner-fillers and can take up space that would otherwise be empty, giving your porch or front space some extra character.

Outdoor Lighting

Outdoor lights – especially solar-powered ones – can make a huge difference to how your home looks and feels late at night. You might decide to keep the front of the house lit overnight or stick with a motion-activated light that will only flare up if somebody approaches the front door.

Alternatively, you could go for a lot of smaller outdoor lights, keeping your garden path illuminated or making nice displays and patterns in the grass. If you are using self-sufficient solar options, you will not waste any power, no matter how complex your lighting plan becomes.

Paint Something

You do not need to repaint your entire house to add something to the design. Instead, look for anything that might be damaged or have flaking paint, then repaint that instead. A front door, your garage door, the window frames – all of them can look great with a new coat of paint.

You can go for a new color or simply refresh the color that you already have. Either option can work, but it depends on the style that you are personally aiming for and the sort of colors that you want to use. The more it fits with your home’s overall color scheme, the better.

Add Some DIY Style

Sometimes you can completely overhaul how your home looks with only a few small DIY changes, like adding a natural wood “frame” around your door or creating some custom flowerbed borders. Even if you are only using spare materials, you could come up with something that looks great.

Do not be afraid to flex your own DIY skills a little and make something unique, too. You might decide to use some old wood to make a little miniature platform somewhere in your garden or take some old bricks to build a barbeque space. There is a lot you can do with some creative thinking.

Build a Porch

A porch, patio, or deck can be a major change to the front or back of your house. Not only can they massively increase your overall curb appeal, but there are a lot of interesting ways to handle the architecture and general style involved.

For example, you might decide to create a sheltered overhang above the front door from two columns and a small roof. On the other hand, you might want a deck by the side of the house or a patio that connects to your driveway. Look at the materials you have and see what you can make.

Cut Down Clutter

In some cases, your garden might be too cluttered to look nice. If you have a lot of high-maintenance flowers and trees that you can’t maintain or have an old shed that has not been used in years, do not feel bad about cutting them down or taking them apart.

In many cases, less is more, and putting too many things around your home can detract from your home itself. This is especially true if those things look messy or if they require so much maintenance that you can’t possibly keep them looking good in the long term.

Wash your Home

It is a good idea to consider power-washing your home, especially the walls and the pathway or driveway that visitors are going to see most. It is natural for your home to gradually accumulate dirt and mess, but it will not go away until you do something about it.

It is not hard to quickly wash away any dirt that has gathered on your patio, and your walls only need to be cleaned rarely. However, you might not realize just how much dirt and grime has gathered on flagstones until you actually start washing it off, revealing a completely different tile color underneath.

Throw Away Trash

If you have any trash or waste lying around outside your home, throw it away. This includes old furniture, bags of trash that have not been picked up yet, or even old scrap materials that can be recycled. It is important to get rid of them as soon as you can.

Consider looking into one of our dumpster options for easy disposal if you have too much to throw away yourself. A dumpster rental is a much more convenient choice, allowing you to throw away as much trash as possible without needing to manage the hard parts yourself.

The more trash and waste you have to throw away, the more important easy disposal becomes. If you need to rent a dumpster that you can rely on, get in touch today and see what we can offer.

Green Gifting for the Environmentally Conscious

Thinking green is becoming increasingly important as well as increasingly popular, so we have pulled together information on how you can gift greener with stylish, affordable, and pleasing sustainable gifts.

With new figures emerging that households produce a quarter more trash during festive periods, we think it is important to look at our gifting habits. If this resonates with you, but you are unsure where to start, we have pulled together some ideas to help you look at the items you are buying.

What is Green Gifting

Green gifting is gifting recycled, upcycled, hand-made, or net-zero products so that there is minimal impact on the environment. When looking at sustainability in gifting, we have found a huge positive with this, as it is very high on most people’s agendas. Currently, companies are marketing towards this in a big way. This makes shopping a lot easier as sustainability in items is highlighted on websites and in stores.

Eagle Dumpster Rental delivers roll-off dumpsters to the borough of Bolivar, Pennsylvania and nearby communities like Robinson.

In the past, sustainability has been linked to exclusivity, meaning a high price tag. However, when looking at various products, we have found that this is not necessarily the case any longer. Affordable sustainability is now becoming a real draw for customers, so shop around to make sure you get the best deal.

Is It for Everyone?

Sustainability sounds great, I wouldd love to do my part for the environment, but will I be able to find gifts to suit all of my friends and family? The answer is yes. If you are committed to finding sustainable gifts, you can find one for every type of person you buy for. From recycled packaging to net-zero jewelry, if you look for it, you can find it.

Some of our favorite sites have sustainable items sections, where you can scroll through until you find exactly what you want, which saves a lot of time searching. Or you can use social media to see what is being recommended by environmental activists for gifts best for the environment.

Shop By Person

Sustainability for children is becoming easier with an increasing number of consumer products being made in sustainable wooden designs rather than plastic items. You can find beautifully carved items if you are willing to pay that little bit more and use a small business. But, if this is not within your budget right now, the big mass-made toy companies are bringing out more wooden toys and playsets which remove some of the plastics from your home and teach children from a young age about environmental issues and social conscience.

Another gift aimed at the little ones in our lives is 100% recycled plastic gifts. The recycled items come in a wide range of gift ideas that you can be sure to find something your little one will love. This could be a toy that has been made from recycled materials but also can be craft items.

For book lovers, you can use thrift stores or used bookstores and find some real gems, and not all of the books have even been read before they were traded in or donated. If you spend a set amount per person, you will also be able to get more for your money by shopping for used books. If you would prefer to give new gifts, there are now also subscription boxes which save unsold books from being pulped through lack of sales.

If you are buying for someone interested in fashion, several companies are using sustainably sourced materials to make their clothing and accessories. Using companies who manufacture sustainably helps a company to limit their carbon footprint and not detrimentally impact the environment. There are also companies using recycled materials for their fashion items which make items unique and quirky.

When buying jewelry, there are now companies who work to a net-zero emission basis with recycled metals and stones, which you can not tell the difference between them and other items of jewelry.

Homeware is a popular holiday gift. There is a big increase in sustainable homeware, with items of glassware, crockery, and vases made of recycled materials. If you have someone in your life who likes an item that is unique and beautiful, recycled glassware is not something to be overlooked.

Sustainable beauty products are becoming increasingly popular also, with environmentally friendly soaps, shampoos, and deodorants making their way onto the market. Some companies only sell items of this type which makes it easier to find rather than looking through a small number of sustainable items from a larger, non-specialized company.

Your sporty friends and family members are not being left out of this list either. Several companies make sports items from recycled or upcycled materials. Meaning you can gift sports accessories for indoor and outdoor activities with sustainability at the forefront of your gifting agenda.

Upcycling furniture has been popular for years and is a way of gifting someone you love a truly unique item for their home. Whether it is a big or small item of furniture, you can find some beautiful hand-upcycled, one-of-a-kind gifts.

Alternatives

Alternatively, instead of buying from sustainably sourced and recycled materials, you could agree and challenge your friends and family to shop from thrift stores only, so there is no waste in the materials being bought.

Top Tip: It is worth it when shopping for sustainable items that you look at blogs on environmentally friendly gifting as companies who make sustainable items often advertise on these sites and blogs.

Why Do Dumpster Companies Get Technology Awards?

As a dumpster rental company, many people might think that we fall under some kind of waste management category. While that is true, we are not the only dumpster company that could appear under a technology award list – in fact, it has happened quite a few times in the past.

We have worked with countless customers and client companies to help them dispose of debris or clear out an old home, offering dumpster rentals that are specially tailored to each client’s needs. However, some of our focus is also on improving our own services – and winning awards for it.

Eagle Dumpster Rental delivers to all towns, census designated places, and unincorporated communities in Washington County, MD, including Hagerstown, Williamsport, Smithsburg, Sharpsburg, Keedysville, Hancock, Funkstown, Clear Spring, Boonsboro, and all other areas within Washington County.

But why do dumpster companies like us get these awards, and why are the awards so important for us? More importantly, how can they benefit you as a new or existing customer?

Technology Awards for Dumpster Rentals?

While it might sound strange at first, we use a lot of technology in our day-to-day operations. In fact, key technology is important for making each rental go smoothly, and we have to combine different pieces of equipment together each time we drop off or pick up another rental dumpster.

Technology is often taken to mean digital systems – which we also use to manage rental information efficiently – but it can mean anything that aids the customer’s experience. In our rentals, we always try to put the customer first, making the experience as convenient as possible.

A large part of how we handle rentals is by assisting the customer in finding out what they need. The average person knows very little about dumpsters, so helping them pick out a rental that suits their upcoming project is an important step in getting them what they need.

Our Improvements

We constantly work to improve the quality of our services, and the awards serve as a good goal to aim for. Most awards are yearly, meaning that they can be re-earned every year as long as a company has progressed and improved enough – so we will constantly be trying to better ourselves.

Many of these awards are based on either a company’s financial performance, customer experience, or a combination of both. For us, these are the same thing – without good service, we would not be retaining customers, and improving it could always draw in more clients.

Because of this, we are constantly trying to aim for bigger and better heights while still serving our customers properly. If you need a dumpster for some important renovation or construction work, we can provide it hassle-free and with minimal stress on either end.

How Does This Benefit Customers?

An award might seem like a very specific thing that only benefits the company that receives it, but that is not quite the case. In fact, these awards can benefit customers in multiple direct ways, especially if you are a repeat customer who has worked with us previously.

Differentiation

One of the biggest problems with many industries is finding a company that can offer what you need. The dumpster rental market is quite crowded, but a lot of dumpster rental companies are almost identical, offering average customer service and basic rentals with nothing extra.

By getting more notable, we might be able to expand what we can offer and develop more unique rentals that have their own benefits. This could give us the opportunities to run special kinds of rentals that we otherwise would not be able to or let us give customers more benefits while renting.

If our company stands out, then we can take advantage of that to offer you something new and better than ever before. If you have been a previous customer, then you will see the most improvement from an award like this.

Yearly Improvement

Awards and lists like this are great motivation for us to improve, but they also serve as a benchmark for how well we are doing. It might take more effort for us to get an annual award a second time since we have to exceed the limits that we managed to reach the previous year.

Thanks to this, we will be constantly aiming to improve our services and the way that we interact with customers. Instead of a one-time award, we can keep pushing ourselves and trying to offer better and better service every year, with each award acting as a reminder that we are getting better.

This could mean that a previous customer from a year ago (or longer) will have far better service if they return for another dumpster rental. On top of that, the dumpster industry is a competitive field, so awards will often lead to us aiming for even better services than some of our local competitors.

Award Status

The status of an award can benefit our company, which often benefits our clients just as much. The more awareness that an award spreads about our company, and the more trustworthy we seem to other businesses, the more likely we are to be supplied with their products.

This means that our product list could potentially grow in the near future and that we could offer new rentals that previously were not available. For a customer who always needs something specific for their personal projects, this simply means more choice without any downsides or added delays.

A fairly prestigious award could even lead to us getting partnerships or major deals with some important companies, giving out rentals an even higher standard of quality, and allowing us to offer even more than many of our competitors could.

The New Home Checklist – What to Look For

Finding a new home is not easy, and it is easy to feel overwhelmed when you realize that you will have to take a huge amount of different factors into account. This could be anything from the color of the wallpaper to the type of water system that the home uses – hundreds of individual details.

However, once you start to narrow it down, the important things become a lot more obvious. Instead of messing it all up in your head, here is a checklist of things that you should check when looking for a new home: some are minor, some are major, and others are just for style.

Whether located directly in Bordentown or anywhere in Bordentown Township, you can rely on our locally-based team for expert dumpster rental service on 40, 30, 20, 15, and 10 yard dumpsters available for rent as soon as today.

The Interior

Always take a look around the inside of a home. Exterior work can be done quite easily in most cases, but interior repair work can make it difficult to fully move as planned.

Heat

How warm is the house? Does it trap heat well, or are there some leaks that are allowing most of the heat to sneak out before you can fully warm-up? Be sure to look into the water tank and boiler to check for leaks or damaged components, especially in a house that has not been used for a while.

Attics and Basements

Have either the attic or the basement been compromised in any way? Basements can be unfinished, and attics might not be livable spaces yet (they often require conversion in older homes), but they can still leak heat or invite infestations into your home without your knowledge.

Electricity

Make sure that you check the electrical details of the house before using any of them. A badly-grounded outlet or a broken wire can become major hazards if you have already moved in since it only takes a few sparks for some flammable furniture to go up in a blaze and endanger your entire family.

Plumbing

If you hear any strange noises with the plumbing or have issues with pressure levels and leaks, then something is up with the plumbing. It is important to get these issues solved as soon as possible since even a minor leak might lead to longer-term damage if you ignore it for too long.

Appliances and Furniture

What kind of furnishing does the home actually come with? This is something that is worth considering since not all homes for sale will come with the furniture that is shown in the viewing. Old appliances should be checked in case they need to be replaced or undergo maintenance, too.

The Exterior

The outside of a home is one of the most important parts to look over, and you should make sure that all damaged spots and flaws are identified ahead of time.

Roofing

A good roof keeps you sheltered, but a bad roof can ruin your first few days in your new home. Look for missing shingles or spots where there might be leaks, especially if the house is older and might not have been maintained very well.

Gutters

Just like the roof, the gutters of your home are important for avoiding leaks and future damage. See if they drain properly by pouring some used water down them, and look for any blockages or spots where you might have to replace parts of the drain.

Windows

Windows can always be broken, but they can also be warped by moisture or jammed in ways that make them impossible to open and close. More importantly, can you properly lock them, or do they run the risk of being a security issue when you are not at home?

Doors

The front door of your home, like your windows, should be able to close just fine. You also want it to fit properly and keep moisture and rain out of your home, preferably also while stopping heat from leaking out. Good security and protection are important.

Foundations

Are the home’s foundations sunken, and are there any major cracks on walls that might have formed recently? If the building uses wood heavily, then looking for signs of rotting or termite infestations can also be important. Nearby trees might have roots that cause mild damage, too, if you are unlucky.

Garage

Does the garage door open properly, or is it a major security risk to the rest of your home? Some garages are quite easy to force your way into, and if the inner door is not secure, then you will want to get at least one of those two issues solved.

Alarms

Look for fire, burglar, smoke, and carbon monoxide detectors. You want them to be functional and installed in places where they can actually help, rather than in isolated rooms or places that are not convenient for actually detecting a threat.

Other Considerations

Apart from the basics of the home itself, you will also want to know some more specific details before moving in.

Renovations

How much work will really need to be done? If you can get a rough estimate, you can understand how long it might take for the house to really be useful as a living space. It might also help you prepare for any pre-furnishing work that has to be done to the interior.

Furniture Removal

If you plan to remove all of the old furniture into a rental dumpster – like one of our excellent rental options – then you should take stock of how much furniture you actually have. You can always take it apart and break it down, but old houses can contain more furniture than you might expect.

Getting Your Home Ready for Winter

Now that winter is underway (at least in most of the world), making your home comfortable for the colder months is more important than any other point in the year. If you are not prepared, then you might run into issues that you are not able to fix until the snow and ice clear up again.

Bound Brook, New Jersey dumpster rentals are easier than ever before thanks to Eagle Dumpster Rental in Somerset County.

While it can be tempting to just relax by a warm heater or fireplace indoors, preparing ahead of time makes a huge difference. Not only can winter throw plenty of curveballs at you, but if you take the right precautions, you can avoid costly mistakes or irritating issues that might arise in the cold.

Prepare the Roof

It is a good idea to look at your roof before winter hits you too hard. Not only can the cold sometimes cause existing damage to get worse, but the amount of rain and/or melting snow you will have to deal with can lead to serious leaks.

A damaged roof that is missing shingles can also be a major source of lost heat, which can chill your house in colder weather and force you to waste more money and power on heating. If you are really unlucky, snow could even fall from your roof avalanche-style, potentially hurting a passer-by.

Check the Gutters

Your gutters are a valuable part of your roof, draining away all of the water and allowing you to avoid some fairly major damage. However, clogged gutters or those full of trapped water can become a huge problem when winter begins to freeze water and drop hail or snow on you.

Remember that snow will eventually melt, and sometimes it will even come in waves during winter, melting and then returning with the next snowfall. If your gutter is blocked, that can be a lot of water flooding your yard or garden, with no real way to stop it until winter ends.

Protect Pipes

Like gutters, pipes can suffer damage if water freezes inside them. Adding insulation is always a good idea – the insulation does not cause problems in warm weather but offers a huge amount of protection In winter if you know how to place it correctly. A damaged pipe can be a serious problem.

It is important to make sure that key pipes are not exposed to too much cold; however you manage that. Insulating a garage or attic containing important pipework can be a good method, as can simply covering your boiler up with a material that helps trap the heat inside it and retains the energy.

Protect Wooden Surfaces

Wood is a common choice for decks, patios, and other outdoor decorations. However, wood can end up rotting quite easily if you are not careful, especially if it is a newly-built deck that might not have had all the necessary treatments yet.

Be sure to cover over any wooden surfaces that might end up getting damaged with a tarp, especially those that are meant to take your entire weight or hold furniture during the summer. If something snaps and splinters underfoot, you could end up with a serious injury.

Empty Water Containers

Always make sure to empty any outdoor appliances that might get frozen when the weather turns bad. If you leave a watering can outdoors and the water inside freezes (making it expand), then it is entirely possible that it might start to crack and become unusable in the warmer months.

Rain barrels and other tough containers should be fine, but things like hoses and sprinklers are a good place to check. If they are still full of water, then you will want to flush them out or drain them before it freezes and causes some potential damage to the interior parts.

Secure your Plants

If you have been growing any outdoor plants, then be sure to bring them indoors before the snow hits. While some plants can survive the winter, it is far better to simply take them indoors – they are likely to die if you leave them out in the cold.

For plants that you can’t bring in, there are other ways to cover them up and protect them. Be sure to look up what each plant might need to stay healthy, whether that is certain conditions, a specific kind of covering, or just a certain sort of wind protection.

Clear Your Garden

It is a good idea to bring in anything in your garden that you feel capable of carrying indoors. While you can leave outdoor furniture where it belongs, it is a good idea to shelter things like mowers, outdoor tools, temporary outdoor furniture, and standing grills.

This is all to make sure that they do not take any unnecessary damage or start to wear down quickly, something that can happen if the winter is especially bad. The less you leave something outdoors and exposed to the elements, the lower the risks are that you will have to replace something in spring.

Seal your Windows

If you have not done it already, then it might be a good idea to seal the space around your windows and doors, trapping the heat in and preventing sudden leaks of warmth. This would mean that you end up paying more for the same amount of heat since some of the heating leaks out anyway.

By sealing the gaps in those surfaces, you are able to prevent as much heat from leaking out. Drafts and sudden cold spikes will not be as much of a problem, even in rooms with a lot of windows directly exposed to the cold air.

What is The Technology Fast 500 Awards List?

As part of the waste management and dumpster rental industries, we have always aimed to get on some prestigious or one-of-a-kind award lists. One of the most notable is the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 award list, one of our company’s many personal goals.

But what are awards like this for, and why are they given out. As a company, we have always tried to offer the best possible experience to both our customers and our employees, and this year will be no different.

What is the Technology Fast 500?

The Technology Fast 500 awards list is a yearly list created by Deloitte, aiming to mark the 500 most innovative companies of the previous year in the fields of technology, media, communications, telecommunications, life sciences, and energy technology across North America.

Eagle Dumpster Rental of Montgomery County delivers to small towns and larger communities across the county, including the unincorporated community of Boyds in rural Montgomery County.

Multiple waste companies have been either on the list or almost nominated for a spot in the past, and with only 500 places across all of the different markets or industries that it covers, there are not many spaces to go around. At Eagle Dumpster Rental, we always aim for awards like this.

How is it earned?

To be eligible for Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500, a company needs to be within one of the related industries and sell something to customers as their primary form of revenue generation. There are limits to how small the company can be, which is judged by total revenue.

The award itself is based on both innovation and the total increase in revenue that the company has taken in, showing that it has distinguished itself from competitors somehow. In our case, we aim to do this by improving our services and rentals across the board where possible.

Only 500 of the awards are given out per year, ranking each company from 1-500. With so many companies operating in North America, the chances of being one of the 500 are slim – but not impossible, especially for companies like us.

Why Do Awards Matter?

To many people outside of the industry, the idea of a dumpster rental company getting an award might seem strange. It is not an industry that many people think about very often, but the services we offer can be invaluable to many people – we have served countless clients in the years since we opened.

So why do these awards matter so much, and why have we been tailoring our customer service and employee quality-of-life to make sure that we can achieve them? Aren’t they just lists?

Value

Awards have value, and as a dumpster rental company, we need to get ourselves out there. Dumpster rental is an important field that many people are completely unaware of, and a lot of projects have been made harder simply because potential clients were not aware of us.

With awards, it becomes easier to not only mark ourselves as a notable company but to prove that we offer a good service. It is not uncommon for people who could use a dumpster rental to shoot the idea down out of anxiety that it would not be worth the price or that it would not help.

Not only that, but awards pass indirect benefits onto the customer, too. The more our company can grow, the more varied our services can become, allowing for even more personalization when long-term customers require something specialized or unique to their current project.

Company Reputation

While the dumpster rental industry is quite broad, there are not many companies that engage with one another. Like any business, we need to make money and keep clients to operate, something that can be tricky if we appear no different from some of the least reliable companies in the industry.

By having a mark of distinction, we are able to gather up more attention and direct people towards our services – rentals that are actually tailored to their needs. This helps make sure that customers are not wading through a sea of risky or unreliable businesses to find one that they can use.

Our reputation could also allow us to secure more contracts with dumpster and equipment providers, potentially letting us expand our range of offered rentals to cover more client needs. This is much more convenient for both sides of the rental and makes it easier to manage your rentals from us.

Why Should Customers Care?

While an award might not be the most thrilling thing for our customers to know about, the potential of earning one is good for both of us. In our efforts to try and receive these awards, we can ramp up our customer service quality, identifying weaknesses that might influence your rental experience.

This kind of improvement gives customers and clients a much larger pool of options to choose from, makes customer service easier to work with and helps you get the rentals that you need faster. Our team is constantly working towards improving our standards, and awards mark our progress well.

Remember that most awards are given out yearly rather than just once. This means that we will not just be working to acquire one and then give up on our improvements – staying on top of the list and keeping the award year after year means constantly working to better our customer experience.

Our dumpster rental services are always improving, and we aim to please every customer or client that we get. From personal projects to major construction work, our rentals are suitable for a whole host of different uses, from disposing of demolition debris to throwing away old furniture.

Our Work With Keep America Beautiful

As a leading dumpster rental company, we specialize in cleaning up. This is why we have paired up with several local Keep America Beautiful chapters over the years to work together to keep our environment clean and safe for everyone to enjoy.

If you are not familiar with this movement, Keep America Beautiful (KAB) is the largest community improvement organization in the US. There are over 620 affiliates and over 1,000 community organizations that work under their program.

Eagle Dumpster Rental is your local waste management specialist in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania.

To help spread the good word of Keep America Beautiful, we are going to share with you some of the chapters we have had the pleasure of working with in the past and the great work they do. You can get in touch with your local chapter if you want to get involved.

Keep America Beautiful Chapters We Have Worked With

Over the years, we have partnered with several chapters of KAB across the country. Each of these chapters works to create its own events and initiatives which intend to look after the local environment.

We can help with cleanup events and large community initiatives by providing dumpsters for hire, which can be used for sustainable waste removal, as well as providing additional tools that can help the efforts.

Our company has worked with several main chapters of Keep America Beautiful, and they continue to do excellent work for their local landmarks and environment. If you are interested in taking care of your environment, you can get in touch with your local KAB branch to see what upcoming events you can volunteer for.

In the past, we have worked with:

  • Keep Austin Beautiful

Keep Austin Beautiful (KAB) is one of the most active chapters online, with thousands of followers and supporters on their social media pages.

The group works to engage the Austin community in a range of cleanup projects that take place year-round. They perform waterway cleanups, recycling events, and educational programs.

KAB also hosts its own tool library, which can be used by the local community.

  • Keep Ohio Beautiful

Keep Ohio Beautiful (KOB) works with a range of local businesses, governments, neighborhoods, and individuals from around the state.

The group works to bring people together with the shared interest of improving the local environment and is dedicated to increasing interest in the care of the local landmarks. They have participated in a range of cleanup events over the years, to which we have contributed dumpsters and other waste removal tools.

  • Keep Massachusetts Beautiful

This chapter of Keep America Beautiful is focused on the appearance and image of their state. With this in mind, a lot of the work that takes place within Keep Massachusetts Beautiful is focused on maintaining the natural beauty of their landmarks.

Volunteers and local businesses come together to work in removing litter, illegal dumpsters, illegal graffiti, and taking care of vacant lots.

The group organizes recycling programs and hosts regular cleanup events which focus on beautifying the natural landmarks around the state.

  • Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful

Keep Palm Beach Country Beautiful (KPBCB) coordinates several large cleanup events within Palm Beach County are every year. These are some of the largest cleanup events hosted under the KAB name, and we are proud to support their work by providing dumpsters.

This chapter of the organization is behind large cleanup events such as the International Coastal Cleanup and the Great American Cleanup, which take place every year.

  • Keep Philadelphia Beautiful

Keep Philadelphia Beautiful (KPB) works with local nonprofits across the City of Brotherly Love to engage residents of all ages in preserving the environment.

They work with people young and old to try to get everyone involved in taking care of the local area and protecting the environment.

The collaborative efforts of this chapter work to beautify the area and have spawned several community cleanup projects and educational programs. These programs are aimed at young people in the community.

  • Keep Atlanta Beautiful

We have worked with Keep Atlanta Beautiful on some of their most recent cleanup events and are proud to support this chapter in the work they do.

This chapter has an extensive electronics recycling program within the state which helps to divert thousands of pounds of e-waste from landfills every year.

Do You Want To Partner With Us?

If you are a member of a Keep America Beautiful chapter and are looking for sponsors, we can help. Likewise, if you are organizing a cleanup event as part of KAB in your area, we can provide tools and dumpsters to make the process easier for everyone.

We aim to help as many local communities as possible when they are doing good work for the environment, and we would love to get involved with your KAB chapter.

Eligible nonprofits can apply for our dumpster donation program on our website.

You can get in touch with our team to learn about more opportunities or to discuss your needs with us. If you are eligible, our company may be able to work with your KAB branch to help local environments and beautify surrounding landmarks.

We all should take care of our local environment, and we can do much better work when we partner with others, which is the basis for all KAB branches.

How To Dispose Of Your Christmas Tree

When the holiday season comes to an end, after all of the presents have been unwrapped and the lights are being taken down, one problem remains.

Getting rid of your Christmas tree is an issue that many households struggle with every year, whether you have a real tree or an artificial one that has seen better days. When it comes to getting rid of your Christmas tree, you need to learn how to dispose of it properly based on the type you own.

Transparent, affordable rental dumpsters come standard with all Bradford Woods drop-offs.

It has been reported that over 10 million Christmas trees end up in landfills every year, but this year you can be an exception to the rule. There are better and more sustainable ways for you to dispose of your Christmas tree, and we are going to share some with you today.

Start the new year off right and do your bit for the environment by disposing of your Christmas tree better.

How To Get Rid Of A Real Christmas Tree

Once all of the lights and decorations have been removed, you will be ready to get rid of the Christmas tree.

If you have opted for a real tree this season, then you will probably be sick of picking up pine needles and will be more than ready to get rid of the foliage from your front room. There are some ways that you can do this sustainably to prevent the Christmas tree from adding to landfills.

To help you make the right decision when getting rid of your real Christmas tree, here are some of the most common ways:

  • Curbside Removal

Many cities do have a curbside Christmas tree pickup service, where the real tree will be collected from the street and taken to a chipper, where they will be cut into smaller pieces. These small pieces can then be used as mulch.

You can find out whether this service is available in your area by checking with your local authorities.

If your Christmas tree is not covered by a curbside pickup service, it may be possible to get rid of it with the rest of your yard trash – but it will need to be prepared properly. Your local authorities might accept the Christmas tree if it has been chopped up and placed inside a yard waste bag.

You can also look for local drop-off recycling centers that accept Christmas trees if you are not able to leave them on the curb.

  • Christmas Tree Recycling

There are ways to recycle real Christmas trees, and some cities will collect trees for this in their curbside service.

Some organizations, like the Boy Scouts of America, may also offer a similar service, but there will be a fee attached to this. You can also get in touch with local recycling centers to see whether they accept Christmas trees.

Christmas trees can also be donated to local environmental organizations, as many may have uses for old foliage like this. Some zoos and similar animal sanctuaries may accept Christmas trees which can be used as treats or playthings for the animals.

Likewise, Christmas trees can also be recycled as protection for riverbanks, dunes, or coastlines against erosion.

  • Compositing

Composting is one of the most sustainable ways to get rid of your Christmas tree, and it can also extend the purpose of the plant.

The branches from the tree make a great base for a compost pile. If the tree has been chipped, the wood can be used as a mulch for a range of plants.

  • Burning Christmas Trees

In some locations, it is acceptable to burn your Christmas tree – depending on how and where you are going to do it.

If fires are acceptable in your area, it is possible to repurpose your Christmas tree as firewood or kindling. Before setting fire to the tree, chop it up and allow the wood to dry out for several months.

Christmas trees should not be burned indoors, however, as the sap can stick to the inside of the chimney and cause a chimney fire.

What About Flocked Tree Removal?

Flocked trees, which are made to look as though they are snow-covered, cannot be recycled because of the chemicals which have been used to treat them.

Instead, these kinds of trees need to be chopped up and placed in the regular waste bin.

Your location may not accept flocked trees within the standard waste, so you will need to check with your local authorities before disposing of them.

How To Get Rid Of An Artificial Tree

Artificial trees can be used every year, but if yours is looking worse for wear, then it is time to get rid of it. You can do this by:

  • Donate

Artificial Christmas trees cannot be recycled, but they can be donated or repurposed to give them another life.

Check with local donation centers and charities to see whether they require an old Christmas tree. There will be nonprofits, such as thrift stores and charity shops, which can make use of your old Christmas tree.

Care homes and local schools may also accept your old Christmas tree to be reused once more.  As long as your tree is in decent condition, it can be donated.

You can also reuse your Christmas tree if you are creative. There are many creative ways to use an old Christmas tree if you have time.

Cleaning Up With Missouri River Relief

Every other year, the Missouri River Relief visits Omaha and Council Bluffs to work on a major river cleanup. This bi-annual event has taken place for a long time, but following the floods of 2019, it was much needed in these cities.

Following the covid-19 restrictions, the event took three days to complete, with small groups working on individual parts of the Missouri River each day.

Rent a dumpster in Sussex County’s borough of Branchville through your local experts at Eagle Dumpster Rental.

2021 marks Missouri River Relief’s 20th anniversary, and the group celebrated with a large cleanup, which is right on brand.

Who Are Missouri River Relief?

Missouri River Relief was founded in 2001 and is focused on conserving the ‘Big Muddy.’

The group works with local communities and creates initiatives to get people involved in river preservation. They put on a number of events every year for the community, which include educational seminars, recreational programs, and hands-on river cleanups to remove waste and debris from the land.

Over the past 20 years, the Missouri River Relief has created a community of river lovers who spend their spare time preserving and taking care of this important freshwater source in the state.

Missouri River Cleanups

One of the biggest events that Missouri River Relief organizes and takes part in is the river cleanups. These are regular events that rely on volunteers to remove waste from the river to protect the freshwater source.

More than three million people rely on the Missouri River for freshwater, which is used in their showers, to water the garden, and for drinking.

The Missouri River is vital to this environment as it plays a vital role in the lives of the residents, as well as being used by local wildlife too. This is why Missouri River Relief is so passionate about its work and requires volunteers to help with its cleanup events.

To keep this freshwater source safe and usable, the Missouri River Relief relies on thousands of volunteers within their cleanup events which take place throughout the year, to remove waste and other debris from the water.

Over the last two decades, the group has seen around 30,000 volunteers cover 1,400 miles and remove 970 tons of trash from the waterway and nearby banks.

Our company first worked with Missouri River Relief in 2016, when we provided dumpsters for their Kanvas City cleanup. In 2021, we have helped the group remove 8.2 tons of litter from the Big Muddy with two of our 30-yard dumpster donations.

The Three Day Cleanup Event

This year, the group saw one of their longest-running cleanup events, which took place over three days.

The cleanup kicked off on Friday, May 20th, in Council Bluffs and concluded the following Sunday in Omaha. The length of the cleanup came due to covid-19 restrictions, which meant volunteers could not work together in as large of groups as they used to.

Restoring the banks of the river was the primary goal of the cleanup event, but the team saw impressive results beyond this, and their work continues to improve the environment in this state.

Day One: Tom Hanafan’s River Edge Park

The first day of the cleanup event took place in Tom Hanafan’s River Edge Park, which is a popular location for festivals, concerts, and walking.

It is located right by Council Bluff’s 40-mile trail system, which means the park sees a lot of traffic and is commonly used recreationally, especially during the summer. This can result in a lot of waste, which needs to be removed to protect the environment.

Thanks to the near-perfect weather conditions, the volunteers managed to get a lot of work done on the first day. The park was the meeting spot for 20 partners, and corporate leaders as the cleanup began on Friday.

Five miles were covered by the volunteers on Friday, giving a good headway for the next group of volunteers the following day.

Day Two: Volunteers Keep Going

A new group of volunteers stepped up to continue the work of Friday’s group and covered a 10-mile stretch along the river.

A large amount of Styrofoam was removed on this day from the nearby marinas, including an incredible amount of blocks from the Sandpiper Cove. In this abandoned harbor by downtown Omaha, 257 Stryfoam blocks were removed.

The weather conditions were not as good on this day, but this did not stop the volunteers.

The group managed to collect and remove two and a half 40-yard dumpsters worth of Stryafoam alone. They also removed tires, blankets, and appliances from the water to prevent the debris from going downstream.

Day Three: Restoring the Fontenelle Forest

With partners at Fontenelle Forest, the groups for Missouri River Relief cleaned the five miles between State Park Boot Ramp and Veteran’s Memorial Bridge on the last day.

This particular stretch of land is very prone to flooding, so a lot of work needed to be done here. It was ravaged by the flooding in 2011 and again in 2019.

Like the previous days of the event, the trash that was collected by the volunteers was impressive. Multiple appliances, bins, and furniture were removed from the banks, and the group filled a 30-yard dumpster with litter from their efforts.

A 20-foot culvert pipe, which allows water to flow under roads and trails, was recovered by volunteers on this day. The pipe was put to good use, with many Missouri homes bordering this area.

How To Clean Your Yard In Fall: The Essential Guide

For some gardeners, the end of summer also means the end of lawn care. This can be a relief, as maintaining your yard can take up a lot of time, and the winter months will give you more energy to spend elsewhere.

However, just because the weather has changed does not mean that your workload will have.

Bridgewater Township, New Jersey is completely within our delivery radius at Eagle Dumpster Rental.

Fall can be the ideal time to prepare your lawn for the upcoming summer months, and the work you do now will ensure that you will have a fresh, green lawn come the warmer season next year.

If you want to take care of your lawn this fall, keep reading this guide.

8 Tasks To Tackle Before Winter

There are some simple tasks you can perform now in your yard to get it prepared for winter and ensure its health in the upcoming warmer months.

  • Remove Any Debris

The fall is a beautiful season, but one that causes a lot of organic waste to accumulate in your yard. Leaves and other organic debris can be a haven for mice and other pests, so you need to tackle it before it can become a problem.

As the leaves fall during autumn, you will want to regularly take a brush to your yard and remove the debris before it builds up. Not only will this attract pests, but fallen leaves can also smother the lawn and prevent growth which is why you should tackle it regularly.

You can use a tarp to capture all of the fallen leaves as you brush them, making it easier to remove all debris at once.

  • Take Out Dead Shrubs and Trees

The end of summer is a great opportunity to declutter your yard. If there are any trees or plants that have not grown over the warmer months these can be removed, as they are not going to survive the winter either.

You can check for signs of life by scratching the bark at the base of the tree or shrub. If you see green, then the plant is still alive, by anything else can be removed.

If a tree or shrub is completely dead, it is best to remove the entire thing and get rid of the roots before the ground freezes.

  • Don’t Stop Mowing

Fall cleanup of the garden is all about helping the lawn finish strong so it can return healthy in the summer. This means that it is important to continue mowing and watering the lawn as needed in the fall season.

As the season draws to a close and the temperatures drop, set your mowers’ blades to the lowest setting for the last two cuts of the year. This will help sunlight reach the crown of the lawn and enhance growth, ready for the new season.

  •  Aerate The Lawn

Aerating the lawn will remove thatch, reduce soil compaction, and make the grass look great.

With excess thatch or organic debris, the lawn can be smothered, which will starve the roots of essential nutrients like air and water and limit growth. The best time to aerate the lawn in the fall to ensure it is healthy next season is during the growing season.

Grass can heal and repair easily once the soil plugs are removed.

The easiest way to do this step is by either buying or hiring a gas-powered aerator from your local garden center. Small lawns can be aerated using spike soled shoes, but you will need something more powerful for larger gardens.

  • Add Fertilizer

If you want to experience the pride that comes from having the greenest grass in the neighborhood, then you will need to get prepared now. Green, healthy lawns need a little more than just water and sunshine, which is where fertilizer comes in.

The cooler temperatures of fall, along with the morning dew, make a perfect environment for fertilizing the lawn. Fertilizing the lawn during this time will ensure the grass will maintain its strength and look great in the summer months.

  • Mulch Around Plants and Trees

Several major benefits come from mulching around plants during the fall, including preventing soil erosion and suppressing weeds.

When mulching plants in the garden, make sure that the cold weather annuals and perennials have at least a two to three-inch layer of mulch as this will protect them as the temperatures fall.

  • Rake Over Bald Spots

If your lawn is looking patchy after a summer spent outdoors, the fall is a great time to manage those bald spots so the grass will be full and fresh again next year.

The easiest way to handle dead areas of the lawn, which cause bald spots, is to apply an all-in-one lawn mixture with a rake. You can buy this mixture from your local garden center or home improvement store.

Usually, this mixture contains a combination of grass seed, fertilizer, and organic mulch, which will repair bald spots.

  • Continue Garden Maintenance

As the temperatures fall, it may be harder for you to get outside and do the regular maintenance of your garden. But you should not forget to continue with your garden maintenance in the fall, such as watering plants and removing weeds if you want to ensure health in the spring.

In the fall, continue watering plants, and they will thank you for it all winter.

Top Five Ways To Heat Your Garage In Winter

Many people use their garage as an additional room in the house, whether it acts as a den or a workshop. When the colder weather hits, it can prevent you from making use of the garage as temperatures drop and make the space unbearable.

If you want to reclaim your garage this winter, here are the top five ways to heat it so you can make use of it all year long.

  • Install Better Insulation

Much like insulating the home, insulation can make a huge difference to the garage, and it is the cheapest way to heat this space.

Rent a dumpster ASAP in Brinklow with your Montgomery County

There will be cheaper solutions for those based in mild temperature locations, such as insulating the garage doors and windows. You can also add weather stripping to any exterior doors, which is something you can do yourself relatively cheaply.

Likely, you will still need to wrap up when working in the garage, but insulation can make a difference to a cold space. It can also trap in more heat should you use any of the other options in this list, so insulating is a good thing to do no matter where you are based.

  • Use An Electric Space Heater

It is possible to buy space heaters that are specifically made for the garage. These will be slightly larger than those intended for use in the home, which means they can spread heat better throughout a bigger space.

You can invest in a space heater for the floor, but if you are dealing with limited space in the garage or want a safer option for the family, it is possible to have wall-mounted heaters which can maintain a comfortable temperature this winter.

  • Use A Combustion Space Heater

A space heater is a good option, but it is not the fastest way to heat your garage – especially if it is a large, draughty space. Instead, you can use a combustion space heater which is considered to be the fastest way to heat your garage.

Combustion space heaters rely on a heat source such as propane or kerosene, and most rely on a specific fuel type. With such a broad market, there are now also options of combustion space heaters that can rely on multiple forms of fuel, which provides greater flexibility.

There are some issues with combustion heaters that you may need to consider, such as the fact they can be very noisy, and as they rely on gas, they can be more dangerous to use. They do heat the whole garage faster than other heaters, so they could be a good alternative for you, depending on what you use the space for.

  • Install A Ductless Mini-Split System

This is the most comfortable way to heat your garage and ensure that the space stays warm all winter long.

A ductless mini-split system is made up of an air-handling unit and a compressor. The air-handing unit is installed inside the room, or in this case, the garage, and the compressor is located outside.

Unlike duct systems, these two parts are connected by a conduit, and the entire system runs on electricity, meaning no draughts will enter the garage throughout the winter.

This is not necessarily something you can do yourself, which means that this method of heating the garage can be more expensive than the others in this list. It is a good way of maintaining heat in the garage, and it will last you, but it is an investment.

To ensure the safety and effectiveness of this system in your garage, regular maintenance is required to remove debris from the filter. Additional heat is also likely to be needed with this system, but the warmth will not escape as there are no outdoor ducts, meaning the temperature will be easy to maintain all winter long.

  • Add Radiant Heating

This is one of the most efficient ways to heat your garage, and it relies on heating to be installed in the space. You can have underfloor heating or radiators installed on the walls of the garage based on what is suitable for the space.

Unlike traditional heating systems, radiant heating uses infrared heating to warm the space instead of using the air in the room.

There are several different types of this heating system available, both for underfloor heating and wall heating. You can do your research or speak to a professional to see which will be the best option for your garage.

Like the ductless system, installing radiant heating is going to be an investment and something that needs to be done by a professional. If you are serious about heating the garage, then this is one of the best options.

If you use the garage as a den or another room in the house, then adding radiant heating is a great option and a way to ensure the room can be used all year long no matter what the weather is like outside.

What Is The Best Method?

The best way to heat your garage will differ based on your budget and what you use the garage for.

Hiring a professional for a permanent change is a good idea if you use the garage as another room in the house, but this may not be as easily justified when the garage is just a workroom or storage space.

How To Insulate Your Home To Keep Heating Costs Down

It has been reported that the average family in the US spends over $2,000 a year on energy bills, and more than half of that goes towards the cost of heating the home.

Now that we are getting into the colder months, it is time to start heating your home again, which can be expensive. This is why ensuring your home is properly insulated is vital during this time, as it could be an effective way to save money on energy bills.

Eagle Dumpster Rental rents dumpsters at affordable rates to customers in Brooklyn Park, Maryland and all of the greater Baltimore County area.

With the correct insulation, heat can be trapped within the home, keeping it comfortable and warm while also saving you money.

Here are five tips to improve the insulation within your home so you can get prepared for the winter.

  • Seal Gaps Around Doors

If doors do not fit tightly within their frames, there will be gaps, and this can help heat escape the room, leaving it cold even when you have the heating on.

This is an issue that happens in all kinds of homes, which is why sealing your doors is one of the best ways to insulate your home. Gaps can be found around the door, but they are most commonly found at the bottom of the door.

These issues can be easily fixed in several ways, including:

  • Weather strips: These are inexpensive and easy to install
  • Draft stoppers: Also known as a door pillow or door snake, these sit at the bottom of the door to cover the gap there

  • Cover And Repair Windows

Windows are another way that heat can escape the home, and they also let cold air in, reducing the temperature of your home even more.

A quick fix to prevent this from happening is applying tape or a clear plastic film to the inside of the window frames. To ensure this is an effective insulation technique, make sure to seal tightly. This is an effective, short-term solution.

For a long-term solution, replacing the windows completely will improve the heating in your home. This is something that older properties should do, as they are typically fitted with single-pane windows, which are not great for insulation.

To save money on your heating bills this year and every other to come, consider replacing your windows with double or even triple-pane glass.

  • Use Your Curtains

You most likely use your curtains for privacy, but they can also be used for insulation. Curtains can be especially effective for keeping the heat in if you have drafty windows.

During the day, when the sun is out, make sure to keep your curtains open as this will bring in light and heat. However, when it gets dark, close the curtains to trap this heat in and keep the room at a comfortable temperature.

Curtains can provide an extra layer of insulation when they are used properly.

  • Insulate Your Attic

Heat rises, which is why a lot of heat can escape from your home from the attic and roof. It is reported around 25% of heat escapes from the roof.

Proper insulation in the attic is not only a finishing touch but something that will improve your energy bills and help you save money. Insulating the walls and roof within the attic can help with this.

There are two options typically for attic insulation; loose-fill or batt insulation, but according to the US Department of Energy, loose-fill is best for the attic. This is because this kind of insulation provides better coverage overall when it is installed properly, so make sure to ask for this when insulating the home.

  • Close The Fireplace Damper

Fireplaces can be a great source of heat unless they are not lit. A lot of heat can escape from this area, and cold air can also come in from the fireplace damper, which is why when the fireplace is not in use, you need to keep this closed.

The only time that the fireplace damper should be left open is if you have installed gas logs in the fireplace. This is because gas logs can release large amounts of carbon monoxide, and therefore the damper needs to be left open to help this escape.

Other than this, and when the fire is lit, close the damper.

Make sure to reopen the damper whenever you want to light the fire and maintain a safe home with the correct procedures for this.

Conclusion

Now that you know how to properly insulate your home, you can start to save money on your energy bills this winter. It is time to prepare your home for the new season so you can have a comfortable and warm home all winter long without breaking the bank.

These are simple steps that can make a huge difference to your home in the colder months, and the effects can be long-lasting.

Ensuring your home is well-insulated is an effective way of saving money on your energy bills while also reducing your carbon footprint, which may also be a concern for you.

Winter is not a great time to be struggling with controlling the temperature of your home, as you need to be warm and safe. This is why now is the best time to get your home prepared for the colder weather and make sure it is well-insulated to help you save money while also remaining comfortable.

Reducing Your Waste at Halloween (and other celebrations)

Events like Halloween can be a very wasteful time. During Halloween, you might create over a pound of trash overnight, and other popular occasions can have all kinds of waste that we do not really think about.

Whether you are worried about the environment or just want to be careful with how much you are throwing away, there are some methods to help cut down how much you are producing. No matter the season or the occasion, it is always good to take care of your planet.

Re-Use Costumes

Costumes can be one of the biggest sources of waste during special occasions, with Halloween being a big part of that. Even if you are keeping the costume itself, you are probably throwing away the packaging – and if everybody does it, that is a lot of plastic wasted.

We have 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 cubic yard roll-off construction bins in stock and ready to be delivered to Brookside and Mendham Township as soon as today.

Instead, try to re-use your costumes. If you do not want to repeat one from last year, start updating it with extra details or new items of clothing. No costume is so valuable that you can’t afford to modify them with a few cuts and added parts.

Do not be afraid to keep costumes to use as decorations during the right season, too. A creepy Halloween mask can be a nice wall decoration, meaning that you do not have to throw it away, and you can fill an empty space.

Use Eco-Friendly Bags

Bags can be important for most celebrations, especially Halloween and Christmas. If you do not have any lying around that you can re-use, then try to buy eco-friendly bags and paper – ones that can decompose properly.

This is important since plastic bags are often going to get thrown away or left at the side of a road. These do not always break down and can be incredibly dangerous for any animals that accidentally get snagged in the handles or trapped inside the plastic bag itself.

Ideally, you want to avoid throwing away bags anyway since they can be an incredibly useful thing to keep around. However, if you are going to, at least make them eco-friendly to minimize your environmental impact.

Avoid Disposable Decorations

Decorating your home to suit the occasion can be very fun, but you also need to consider what you are decorating it with. A lot of non-recyclable plastics are used in short-term decorations, and some are designed to be disposed of.

If they are not made of biodegradable materials, then a lot of your decorations can simply end up thrown away. Sticking with something that you can re-use over and over again can save money and cut down on how much waste you are producing.

For example, you might have a plastic window sticker that you like but which will eventually lose its stickiness. A plastic skeleton might be more expensive at first, but you can keep hanging it up by the window long after the sticker has stopped adhering to the glass.

Dispose of Food Properly

Pumpkins are one of the most popular foods to see on Halloween, but they are also hard to get rid of once they start to rot. While you might just want to leave one outside, that is a waste of food, and they can also release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere in larger numbers.

Instead, try to eat up as much as you can or get rid of it in other ways. Composing them is another common option, allowing other plants to grow faster as the pumpkin decomposes. You could even leave the pumpkin in your garden for wild animals to nibble on.

Do not be afraid to chop up and freeze your pumpkin, too. Cutting it up will make it a lot easier to store, and you can freeze it for a long time, keeping it fresh for later.

Think About Your Treats

One of the most common mistakes that people make on Halloween (or any other occasion that involves a lot of food) is over-buying treats or making meals that are too large. If you buy something that nobody is going to eat, then you are wasting it – and its packaging.

Things like canned drinks and foods are easier to rely on since the cans are recyclable. Buying candy in bulk also works, as does anything that comes in cardboard casing.

Buying a lot of small, individually-wrapped sweets just creates a situation where most of the packaging is going to be thrown away, no matter whether the candy gets eaten or not. This might not seem like much, but it can add up when every family is doing the same thing.

Disposing of Waste

There will always be waste at the end of a night-long celebration, but disposing of it properly can help reduce how much waste you are actually creating. A lot of materials can actually be donated or re-used in ways that you might not expect.

For example, a lot of plastic drinks bottles can be recycled – check the packaging to see if they are accepted. Many people throw these away because they assume that the plastic can’t be recycled.

Some waste has to be disposed of normally, and that is always okay, but minimizing how much you end up tossing is always a good thing. Be sure to look through your waste to find anything that can be re-used, especially plastic containers that might be handy around the house.

If you are focused on cutting down your waste and protecting the environment however you can, then take stock of what you are actually throwing away. Some things can be recycled, some can’t, and many can be reused in creative ways or niche projects.

Are Dumpster Companies Getting More Important?

Dumpsters are used for a lot of different purposes, but many people overlook the industry or forget how important it can be. While you might think that dumpsters are a very niche tool that only applies to certain situations, there is a constant demand for them across the whole of the US.

Only a few years ago, a dumpster company was named as one of the fastest-growing companies in the entirety of Northeast Ohio. Not only is the dumpster industry stable, but it is also growing, meaning that more and more people are finding them useful for their projects.

Brownsville, Pennsylvania is within our delivery radius at Eagle Dumpster Rental, which means we can now help homeowners, contractors, and businesses in the area with their waste management needs.

But if you are interested in hiring your own dumpster – or have some other connection to the industry – then how will this impact you?

Why is the Industry Growing?

Dumpsters might go unnoticed by a lot of people, but they are also a core part of many industries. From construction to business-based service work, they are the easiest way to dispose of a large amount of waste, no matter what the actual business does.

This means that they have become increasingly popular and important for many businesses, especially those with small premises and a lot of excess waste. They are even more vital for construction work, where there can be an entire building’s worth of debris to dispose of safely.

Not only are dumpsters a great option for both individual homeowners and companies, but one of the biggest draws is the hands-off approach. You do not have to manage the dumpster yourself. Companies like us can deliver it, let you use it, and then collect it without any extra effort from you.

Choice

A growing dumpster industry means that more companies can offer up more options. While a dumpster might seem like a very basic thing to you, having a lot of different options can be very important for getting the right kind of disposal at the right time.

For example, if smaller dumpsters become more popular, then there are going to be more small sizes to choose from. This might be helpful if you are renovating part of your home or clearing out a certain room since a full-sized dumpster can just be a waste.

Companies like ours already have quite a wide range of options available, making these benefits even more obvious. If you need a specific kind of dumpster, there is a high chance that it is available, so you will not be stuck with a size that does not suit your needs.

Availability

Dumpsters have become noticeably more important in many other industries, and that means that you can get hold of them easily. With so many different options and plenty of ways to arrange for a dumpster, you can get one almost anywhere, whenever you need it.

Companies like us are especially focused on trying to give every client what they need, right down to the specifics. If you are looking for a dumpster to help you dispose of excess waste and trash, regardless of the project or reason, then get in touch and see what we can offer.

Dumpsters for Homes

Unlike a lot of similar businesses, the dumpster market can cater to a lot of different homeowners. If there is a specific option that you need, then it can usually be acquired quite easily, delivered straight to your home, and used straight away.

Many people turn to dumpsters as a disposal option simply because of how convenient they are, and the low cost to entry means that they can be a useful tool for any larger-scale repair or renovation work. For many projects, it is the only waste disposal option they ever need.

Since dumpsters are delivered and collected on a set schedule, they are also very easy to work around. Clients do not have to collect or deliver the dumpster themselves and are free to use the dumpster whenever they need to, rather than at specific times.

Dumpsters for Contractors

A growing dumpster industry also allows contractors to make better use of dumpsters. With more dumpsters in service, contractors can use them to outsource waste disposal when working on renovations, demolition, or other relevant work.

This all means that it becomes a lot easier to rely on dumpsters for most kinds of work and that contractors are not having to supply their own disposal options. Since our dumpsters are very versatile tools, they can be used in a number of different ways or for different projects.

If you are a contractor that might need some larger-scale disposal options, then this might be the best way to get proper disposal tools without having to break your wallet. Our dumpsters can also come in a widely varied range of sizes and specifications, suitable for any project.

Dumpsters for Businesses

Businesses might prefer to use dumpsters over normal disposal options – for many businesses, it is essentially a requirement to keep running without leaving bags of trash lying around. The unique challenges of finding a dumpster suitable for your business have become much easier to handle.

For example, if you need a budget dumpster that can fit into a small space behind your business, then our experts will be able to find one that suits your needs. Now that the industry is getting more popular and demand is increasing, niche dumpster types are available on a wider scale.

The growth of the dumpster industry has made it far easier for businesses to find an option that suits them. If the industry keeps growing, then it may become even easier for a business to set up a dumpster routine that perfectly matches their waste production and operating hours.

How to Choose and Prepare for Home Flooring

Getting new flooring installed in your home is always a big step towards improving a certain room or space, but it can also be a very tricky thing to handle. Even once you choose some flooring, you still need to be ready for the installation process itself.

If you are looking for new flooring, then here is everything you will want to have ready before the work can begin.

Choose your New Flooring

Finding the right flooring is important. Each material, color, pattern, and design can completely change how a room looks or even alter the feel of your whole home. A solid floor can complement a fancy space, while something softer might be nicer for casual rooms.

Locally owned and operated, Eagle Dumpster Rental has a multitude of rental dumpster sizes available to contractors, restoration companies, cleaning crews, government organizations, small business owners, hotels, and ordinary homeowners in and around the city of Brunswick.

Knowing the specifics around different types of flooring can be very important, especially if you do not know which options might be right for a certain space. Some of the most common options are below, although there are far more to choose from, depending on the company.

Carpets

Carpets are a mostly comfort-focused option. Some people prefer to go for plush carpets that offer an excellent visual aesthetic but at the cost of being much more vulnerable to dirt and damage. Patterned and frieze carpets can hide dirt but are more costly to work with and install.

Berber carpets are a middle ground, being cheap and durable. However, they are not that soft and can snag easily on certain materials, leading to more frequent damage or pulls.

The color of your carpet also matters since some are going to hide dirt better than others. Many people choose black carpets for this exact reason, while other people prefer lighter-colored carpets for the aesthetic or to match the rest of the room.

Hardwood

Hardwood is very common and can be used almost anywhere, with different types offering different benefits. Solid hardwood and engineered hardwood are both easy to repair, but they can be costly to maintain since they damage easily if you treat them badly.

Reclaimed hardwood is similar but is more durable and environmentally friendly. The only downsides are the increased cost and the fact that the reclaimed wood can be of varying quality since it is taken directly from other pieces of recycled wood.

Laminate and Vinyl

Laminate is a nice balanced choice, with multiple different imitation options that can replace wood, tile, or stone floorings. However, they all have their limitations and are not going to work in exactly the same way as the original material would.

For example, imitation stone laminate is cheap to install and does not have to be sealed, but once it wears down, you need to replace it entirely. Imitation wood laminate can’t be repaired either since it is not real wood – normal wood-repairing options simply will not work on it.

Vinyl can be similar but is far less durable. This makes them best used in areas where you do not expect a lot of damage to happen or as a replacement for more expensive flooring that can’t be repaired anymore.

Preparing for the Installation

Once you know which flooring you want to use, you need to prepare for it. You can’t have the flooring installed without the room being ‘prepped’ for it first, especially in a busy home or shared space.

Clear the Room

Flooring installation often makes a room unusable for a while, and you generally have to clear it out ahead of time. Move anything that can get in the way of the work, especially large pieces of furniture. If you are blocking floor space, then you are simply making the job harder for no reason.

A room that is getting a complete floor replacement will usually have to be emptied out since the flooring is often replaced all at once. In situations where that is not an option, you might be able to get the flooring replaced in two halves, but this is quite rare.

Get a Dumpster

Always get hold of a dumpster before the work starts. If you have a large enough dumpster, then you can easily throw away and dispose of the remaining materials without having to load them into a car or carry them to a suitable disposal location.

While some contractors might offer to call one themselves, it is often easier to have a dumpster prepared ahead of time. This means that you can control the amount of time it is available before being picked up, which might be useful if you have other projects to manage too.

The larger-scale your home renovations are, the more important a dumpster becomes. A few replaced steps can be handled yourself, but major floor replacement and room renovations often require a large dumpster that can hold all of the debris at once.

Keep in mind that a dumpster can be a vital tool for all kinds of work, no matter the scale. Do not hesitate to get hold of one if you think it would be useful for an upcoming project. This can be even more important if you are doing all of the work on your own, with no contractors to help.

Install the Flooring

Remember that you will not be able to use the room for a while, whether you are handling the work yourself or paying somebody else to do it. Until the floor has been replaced and properly tested for safety, you may not even be able to move furniture onto it.

Make sure that you can live without using that room for a full day, just in case it takes that long. The more prepared you are, the better.
