Dumpster Rental Sizes Available in Washington, D.C.
Six sizes, from a 10-yard box that fits a narrow rowhouse drive to a 40-yard for sustained construction volume. Every container is 8ft wide; length runs 10ft to 22ft and depth 4ft to 8ft. The weight allowance is included in the quoted price, with overage billed per ton beyond it.

Small: 10 and 12 yard
Roughly three pickup loads. Suited to a bathroom strip-out, single-room flooring removal or a modest clearance. These are the sizes most likely to fit on a District driveway without occupying public space.
Medium: 15 and 20 yard
The 15-yard is the most requested size in the District: garage clearances, kitchen refits and landscaping waste. The 20-yard takes about seven pickup loads and handles full kitchen work, deck removal and roofing tear-off.
Large: 30 and 40 yard
Both are 22ft long. These are for new build, gut renovation and commercial clearance. In much of the District the limit is not capacity but kerb space, so confirm the placement before booking a large container.
What It Costs in the District
Current District rates: 15-yard $480 to $530, 20-yard $585 to $635 and 30-yard $585 to $635. The 10, 12 and 40-yard are quoted on request, since availability in the District varies. Delivery, collection, disposal and the included tonnage are all inside those figures.

Placement and Public Space Permits
Nothing is required to place a container on private property. Placing one on a street, alley, sidewalk or treebox in the District means occupying public space, and that requires a permit from the city before delivery. Requirements and fees are set by the District and change, so confirm the current position before booking a date. We will work to whatever the permit specifies.
The practical constraint in most of the city is room to manoeuvre. The delivery vehicle needs roughly 60 feet of straight, clear approach to set a container down and to lift it away again. On narrow streets, in alleys, or where cars park tight to the kerb, that is the deciding factor, not the size of the job.
Residential and Commercial Work
Rowhouse renovations, basement and estate clearances and garden waste make up most household jobs here, and a 15-yard covers the bulk of them. Commercial dumpster rental in the District runs differently: office strip-outs and retail fit-outs usually need scheduled exchanges rather than a single container, so tell us the programme and we will set a swap frequency that keeps the site clear.
How Hire Works
Confirm the size and the placement, agree a delivery slot, fill the container, then call for collection. Standard hire runs 7 to 14 days from delivery and extensions are charged at a daily rate. Call before the end date rather than after. Finish early and collection can usually be brought forward to the next working day.
Heavy Debris and Restricted Material
Concrete, brick, block, stone and soil are accepted but need a container of their own rather than going in with a mixed load. Dense material reaches the weight allowance long before it fills the box. Flag it at the point of booking and the right container comes out.
Where We Deliver
All eight wards, covering Capitol Hill, Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan, Petworth, Shaw, Navy Yard, Anacostia, Tenleytown, Georgetown, Brookland, Woodley Park and the rest of the District. Same-day and next-day slots are usually available; tell us the street and we will confirm what will fit.
What Goes In
General household junk, construction and demolition debris, timber, drywall, metal, furniture and yard waste are all accepted. Hazardous material, tyres, asbestos, refrigerant appliances and electronics are not, and heavy debris such as concrete or soil needs its own container. See the full accepted and prohibited materials guide, and our dumpster sizes guide to match the container to the load.
